About The Legend of the Lynchs

During our research of 'The Legend of the Lynchs', it has taken us through
many paths and traveled down many roads of our past ancestors. We have traced
them through Bath, Calhoun, Gilmer, Braxton, Wirt and many other Counties of
Virginia and West Virginia. Traveling the many surrounding areas we have seen
the beauty of the hills and mountains of West Virginia and thank God for all
that he has given us. Our family has entwined so many times with early
pioneer families such as Gregory, Starcher, Whytsell, Skidmore, Arthur, Mace,
Dodrill and many others. Many heartfelt thanks to all those who have opened
their home and hearts to help us make this such a success with all their
photos and family history. What a joy it has been to hear elder relatives
reminisce about special times in their lives. They explain it in such detail
that you could close your eyes and almost visualize the story as it was being
told. Our goal was to have a site where you could easily find information
about our family history for past, present and future references.

John Lynch was born in 1742 and immigrated to the United States from Galway,
Ireland where there is a Lynch Castle and many other landmarks carrying the
Lynch name. When his family came from Ireland, they dropped the O from
O'Lynch where today we are known as Lynch. In 1768 he married Mary Moore and
they lived in Bath County, Virginia which later became Pocahontas County, West
Virginia. We are able to trace their lives through birth, census, marriage
and death records through many of the counties listed above. We are listing
four of their children that we have verified though records and although many
others are mentioned through other researchers we have decided not to add them
until we can verify their birth. Some record indicate that Samuel H. Lynch was
born in 1851 died in 1868 and was married to June Monroe. We have birth
certificate of Harry Lynch that shows Samuel H. Lynch/Sarah Jane Monroe and
they were married July 04, 1880 in Calhoun County. December 2005 a brick wall
came tumbling down with the help of Michele Siegrist Clark with the name of
Sarah Jane Monroe Lynch Ferrell's husband name and where they are buried. Its
so exciting to see researchers working together. So, now we have the name
Ferrell that we will add to our surnames that we are researching. Thanks
again Michele! Do you have any brick walls, Would be glad to try to help you
tear the wall down. Email us!

We would like to thank Michele (Siegrist) Clark for helping us set up this web
site and to Pollee Kreaps, Calhoun County Web Page, Sandy Stansberry who gave
us all the information on the Shrout Surname, Paul Clites, Lois Curry, Donna
Walbrown, Tim and Jeanette Simmons, Margaret Moss, Pam Drake, Don Norman, Hur
Herald and many others for sharing their family history. Please accept our
apology if we have used any information and have not given the author the
recognition that they deserve. Please take your time and enjoy the family
history and please feel free to contact us if you have any additions or
corrections or photos. You can help us to branch out and connect our tree
with yours.

We have also add our Starliper and Ravenscraft research to this site and
welcome any fellow researchers who are searching. Thank you to Sandy & Larry
Starr, Bonnie Bingaman, Stephen Starliper, Lee Tabisola and we are so glad to
meet so many more researchers with each new surname that is added. With our
Starliper research other names that we are researching are: Thompson,
Keesecker, Butts, Hovermale, Rankin, Ruppenthal, Pentoney along with many
others. We have a site on myfamily.com-"Searching for the Starliper's"
and "Legend of the Lynch's" and would be glad to send you an invitation if
you would email us.
